Artist Statement:
The message I am trying to convey in my selfie is my life and what is important to me. For my first layer, I took a selfie of myself and edited out the background using the eraser tool so that the selfie would just be of my face and my hoodie. Next, I scanned my phone for a background image from the trip I took to my grandma's house earlier this summer. I picked out an image of my favorite lake next to a light house. Next, I picked out another background image of a fire from my other grandmas house and put it over the water image, but I changed the opacity from 100% to 50% so they would go over each other. I put the horizontal line of the light house to match the base of the fire place. I then picked out two images of my cats, as they are very important in my life. The first image was of my cat, Remy. He is black and white, and loves to sleep. I put him in the corner, and set his opacity to 60% after erasing the background. I then put in my other cat, Gaby, using the rule of thirds to make sure she is captured well. I erased her background so the background would be the water and fire. I put in a christmas reef that my family recently put up because I love christmas. I put the reef around my cat, Gaby so that it could also be captured well and surround my cat. Finally I downloaded the image. This is how I made my selfie to convey the message of my life and what is important to me.
